ANIWELL is a registered NPO (082-561) which started its work in Goliath Estate, an informal settlement, in May 2009. Since then ANIWELL has helped hundreds of animals (and animal owners) in Grabouw, Eerste Rivier, Goliath Estate, Scottsville and Bloekombos through education, sterilisation, rescue, feeding, assistance with veterinary care, rehoming, behavioural advice and, sadly, euthanasia.  Our primary focus is sterilisation.  We don't have a physical shelter, we're a group of volunteers all with full time jobs, helping animals from disadvantaged areas in our spare time.

Sterilising companion animals from townships in the Northern areas of Cape Town, is Aniwell's core focus. On average we are sterilising about 40 animals a month from Bloekombos (our current focus area) but we need to get this up to 50 to make a significant dent in the population figures. The population will then be easier for us to manage and there will be less abuse/starvation/disease. Bloekombos is very much out of control and abuse is rife. Goliath Estate on the other hand is currently in a state of "maintenance" where we help with primary healthcare and watch for any newcomers to the fold that need to be sterilised.

Grabouw situated on the N2, 15 min from Somerset West is very grim indeed. Despite the best efforts of the small local animal welfare the local kitty and doggy population has spiraled out of control. The animals are to put it mildly in a hell of a state. We would like to help the local welfare by supporting them with regular spay days to keep the population at a more controlled rate. This will in turn mean less abuse of animals and better quality of life for the doggies and kitties.
